Baja East takes NYFW

Baja East takes NYFW
It’s a loose utopia, but it’s not perfect. Because being perfect is fucking annoying.
— Scott Studenberg of Baja East

With NYFW coming to a close, among new and emerging designers were John Targon and Scott Studenberg of Baja East; their clothing label that could be the next big thing. It's athleisure style in luxe cashmere's and fine fabrics gives it the ultimate look of refinement. Beginning with the idea of bringing The East to the West, inspired by their travels, the pair began their New York based brand in 2013, having previously working with the manufacturing side of brands. The laid-back Californian vibe mixed with the practicality of New York with foreign patterns and textiles applied Baja East has become an instant favourite. Defined as 'ambisex' meaning gender is not the limit to what you wear. The all exclusive beach wear (and more) line is shifting how we view fashion.

For their spring 2018 collection they're focusing on a denim collaboration with Hudson, swimwear and eyewear with Haze and a footwear release with Melissa. Wanting to add variety to their blossoming line. At this years show at NYFW, the pair presented their spring 2018 collection, featuring off shoulder wrap tops, lacy oxford shirts and 90's lamè dresses with thigh high slits. Track pants and hoodies featured palm trees lifted from the designers own tattoo's as racing stripes. Their creativity has definitely amped up since they gave us the wrap dress in cashmere. Targon referred to the collection as a faulty paradise, saying "We like the nimbleness." While luxury is their signature, it offers an edgy, nonchalance that goes further than their rich and lush fabrics, a utopia for the senses.
