Gypsy Sport: Avant Garde in Street Wear

"There's a scene in Star Wars where they go to a bar and every kind of alien from the whole universe is sitting there and having a drink. That's New York," describes designer Rio Uribe of Gypsy Sport. An eccentric mix of the cool kid, the individualistic thinker and the artist all with a streak of nonchalance only found in big cities, morph into one in Gypsy Sports latest collection. Inspired by the inclusive nature of NYC with the freedom to be whoever you want, while being a part of something bigger is an intrinsic part of this young brand's identity.

Gypsy Sport's avant garde style flows beautifully with a blend of street wear and athletic elements. The collections theme showcased a blend of the 1920s flapper era and soccer. Athletic wear represents a modernity that more and more designers, not just streetwear ones are drifting towards. As it best shows the fluidity of the dynamic lives we all lead in the twenty first century. Settings and clothing are weaving together, overlapping and interconnecting, mirrored by individuals with global identities, a multitude of interests and various talents. Gypsy Sport is the trailblazer of representing the changing landscape of this generation.

Bright hues of purple, greens and orange merge with floral prints and multi-colored tweed jackets. The designs offer an androgynous fit that further accentuates Gypsy Sports community building drive to include all peoples from all walks of life defining an unapologetic idea of freedom. Even Uribe's group of models and muses are a perfect representation of the brand and have a certain reliability with many young people growing up in urban cities around the world.

Whether it is lace trimmed dresses and skirts paired with fitted jerseys and knee length socks or the designers own take on an NBA jersey forming it into a gypsy like dress, Gypsy Sport takes street style to another level. Collections of the brand have always taken a unique eye-opening perspective but as Uribe says it has become even more important, with the current political climate,  to create diverse, limitless, communities, working and progressing together.
