The New Oscars

'A woman carries her clothes. But the shoe carries the woman.' A rule of dressing to live by, according to acclaimed shoe designer, Christian Louboution. The significance of shoes in any outfit is often understated. The eclectic outfits of today allow for bold styles and creative expressions that designers like Amina Muaddi are embracing.

In pursuit of creating the perfect shoe, shoe designer, Amina Muaddi, created Oscar Tiye in 2013. A luxury shoe brand based in Milan. While this brand has become popular with many Hollywood actresses, it is equally loved by street style stars. These shoes strike the perfect balance between elegant femininity and strength, further emasculated in its logo-a scarab. Known to the Arab world as a symbol of good fortune, happiness and a bearer of good tidings, the scarab translates into a precious jewel in art and design. Historically this exquisite jewel was given to Queen Tiye as a wedding gift by the pharaoh of ancient Egypt Amenhotep III.

The designer’s own background is Romanian and Arab which is expressed in her shoe line, a cool, spirited confidence flows from the edgy stilettos, reflecting the essence of the modern women. Oscar Tiye offers sophisticated stilettos in smooth velvet, iridescent fabrics and patent suede. All insides of the shoes are an eye-catching magenta, the brands signature along with the jewel scarab in the sole of each shoe. The careful attention to detail, the padding in each sole for added comfort and the overall unique exuberance they exhibit, each shoe feels as if it was made exclusively for the individual.

Arabesque gold to rusty copper to orangey pink hues, and stilettos with angelic wings and Minnie Mouse ears, the style of Oscar Tiye blends its Mediterranean home with that of the Middle East. As its creative director Amina Muaddi states, the brand's heart lies in the Middle East and is impeccably merged with a luxe European chic. It's emblematic heel 'Malikah' with wings hugging its back means 'Queen' in Arabic transcending to the delicate design of the shoe itself and a tribute to it's label. Oscar Tiye is a label defining the modern art of shoe making and a trendsetter in design.
